COMPUTER EXPLORERS-198

Dolly Western
Teacher

This is my fourth year working with the Computertots/Computer Explorers Program and I continue to be amazed at the variety of learning experiences that are offered to the students.  My background includes earning a B.S. in Early Childhood Education and an M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction.  After retiring from a 28 year career as a public school teacher, I’m enjoying the change of pace offered by the small group format of Computertot lessons. I believe that the excitement of learning new things never ends and I’m working on earning a naturalist certification with the Delaware Nature Society.  I also study Spanish with an informal group of adult learners.  So the new Science Tech Tots and Around the World curriculum has been especially fun to teach this year. Finally, I have to say that the Kindergarten Advantage curriculum provides the 5 and 6 year old students with a powerful learning tool.  They are able to explore so much that the computer can do to enhance their learning. I wish that every child could be empowered in this way.
